Peer Editing Skills

Remember to be kindly critical and honest.

1.  What do you think is the strongest part of the blog? This could be a certain post, the writing style, the graphic design, the use of alternative media, the images, etc. What makes this element so strong?

 1. I think that the strongest part of the blog is the introduction to herself and the picture that goes with it, the reason that I  think this is because the style of writing makes it seem that it is her deepest and darkest thoughts that are finally getting  and are be able to be said. I think that this is effective because of the picture it shows her in a nicer light and when she was happy which is in contrast to when she left the school feeling upset. This makes the element strong because its showing Alex for who she really is and not who other people see her as it also shows that she is like any other normal human being and wants to be treated that way.

2.  Is there a part of the blog you find confusing? A part that doesn’t seem to quite match the rest or the character for which it was designed? A link for which you don’t understand the connection? Can you give some suggestions for how to improve that part?

 2. I do there is a part of the blog that doesn't make sense every upload to the blog has had something to do with A lex and her life, or how she feels about jospeh choosing not to do the exhibition nothing is out of character or random which also makes the blog more realistic and enjoyable.
3.  After reading the blog, what would you like to know more about? Is there a post that leaves you with questions? Write down at least two questions to help your partner further develop this blog.

3.The two questions that I have are:
.  How did you feel when Joesph said he wasn't going to do the exhibition and what are you plannning to do to change his mind?
.  How did you feel living in a bedsit with strangers, why didnt you just go home?
4.  Did you notice any major misspellings or grammatical issues? Please note down anything.

There was few mispellings and grammatically incorrect issues such as:  now. what this is incorrect as after the full stop there should be capital letter. Another issue is not! guess  After the exclamation mark there should be a capitial letter.

5.  Did your partner fulfil all the requirements on the Character Blog Requirements handout?
If not, which one or ones still need to be added?

Most of the requirements have been fulfilled to great standard. However they are yet to fill out the peer editing and the skills bank.

Overall Chloe's blog was really amazing and I learnt so much about the character Alex from reading her blog and learnt about the characters deepest, darkest thoughts and how she really feels about everything that goes on inside her.

For character creation exercises we research the character to find out more about the character, there background and why they act a certain way towards a certain subject. I researched Rwandan genocide as the play is based around this topic and to understand the play fully i needed to understand and learn more about the genocide. Also the Rwandan genocide is a significant moment in history and has effected and is still effecting a lot of people today all over the world. I think that finding the given circumstances (the facts from the scripts) is very useful because you need to be sure to base your character around these circumstances to make the play more believable.

I think that hot seating is very useful because you can learn a lot about a character due to hot seating that you couldn't learn about in the play, characters deepest feelings. It is also good because the person who is being hot seated can find out things about the character that they didn't even know themselves. Hot seating is putting someone on the spot and asking them question relating to the character that they are playing. Whilst rehearsing for the play we improvised the previous scenes, trying to think about what the character would say before the scene that we were rehearsed. I think that this is useful because it helped me understand more about the character and how they might have been feeling in my scene, also why they were feeling this way. I also improved on my improvisation skills.

Throughout the weeks of working on this play we have been practising working with objectives - not just any objectives but physical objectives. A physical objective is an action that can be played without using any speech. Even though working with physical objectives may look and sound easy it isn't because it is hard to find and objective that is physical and represents what you are trying to do. However after finding the right objective it makes becoming the character and understanding how the character responds to certain situations a lot easier.

When we improvised 3 line scenes it was really helpful because we were able to focus more on the actions and less on the actual dialogue. Working on a prescribed set is more useful than working on a set that is made up because when performing your piece it is best to know your surroundings and be able to adapt  to them and be used to them however not knowing your surroundings can lead to problems e.g. The audience not being able to see you. Each action is worth 1000 words.
